Could Robert Englund be Freddy again?
This incarnation is much more vicious than previously – this Freddy is serious and wants nothing more than to kill and torment. So why couldn’t we have a sequel to this Nightmare along with Wes at the helm? Wes could bring back Heather and her son who, now an adult with children of his own, could begin to have visions of Freddy again. Freddy could go after his child(ren) and tease Heather about how she is too old to save her child and grandchild. There are many routes that can be taken, the characters are there it just needs a story to make it all fall in place.
Just think of how awesome it would be to have Robert as Freddy again along with Heather as herself and Nancy. If that isn’t enough, how about the five bladed glove? That glove has to be my favorite glove from the whole series. I would pay 10 bucks right now to see that glove on screen again.
There is so much potential here it’s amazing that a sequel to it was never tossed about. This installment made Freddy scary again. It had no campy feel to it and is on par with the original. This could very well breathe new life into a franchise that has been knocked down by a lackluster remake.
ehhhhhhh…no
I think Robert went out on a high note with Freddy Vs. Jason. He’s getting older and can’t take the punishment involved with such a physical role. I’d love more of him but I’d hate to see him look like Shatner in the later Star Trek roles. I like that Englund retains his dignity and walked away when he was still great.
though I loved Robert as Freddy I think it’s time to let him pass the torch to Haley, I loved Haley’s performance and would like to see him get more opportunities to make the new Freddy stand out from the old one.
naw… lets get him back!!!
I recently watched New Nightmare again and found it to be quite boring. Kind of a neat twist but certainly nothing that would need to be revisited. Robert Englund was great but his time is up. I’m curious to see where the franchise goes from here. Seems like remakes are getting remade these days.

New Nightmare is great. Scarier than the previous unambitious sequels (though I enjoy “Revenge”). The fan tributes are great and really put this movie in the spirit of Scream and other 90’s horror hits. A modern sequel would have serious potential, with darker cinematography and new film tactics. I’d love to see Craven give it another try.
